Meet Michael Marohn, Our Owner

As a retired law enforcement officer in Michigan, Michael has 25 years of service in the community safeguarding and caring for others. Years of “serving and protecting” the public facilitated in him the development of a robust work ethic, strong moral character, and compassion for others. During his career as a Deputy Sheriff, he received many commendations for his work and gratitude from the citizens he served. Here is an excerpt from one of the many letters he received:

“My mother passed away after a long battle with cancer. Words cannot express how much I appreciate how professional and respectful Deputy Marohn was to me and my family.”

Michael’s passion for helping others in need is what led him to the home care industry and fostered the desire to open his own agency. His leadership role in his community helped him to recognize the need for quality in-home care. He also has firsthand experience with the needs of the senior population as his mother, prior to her passing, needed in-home care for several years.

Now, Michael is focusing his passion and desire to assist and support others in the private sector, where he knows he will be fully rewarded by serving the seniors of Oakland County. Michael’s faith in God led him into this new adventure, where he plans to continue serving the communities he protected.

Michael's top priority is to ensure the happiness of his clients and their families by providing the care that will allow seniors to age in the comfort of their homes.


Meet Wendi Taylor, Care Manager

As the older sister of a chronically ill brother, Wendi learned at an early age the impact good caregivers have on the entire family. As a child, many of her friends were the nurses and nurse aids at the hospital where her brother spent many days of his short life.

Wendi has traveled extensively while her husband served in the military. She had lived in Germany and in several different states before returning to Michigan to raise her 4 kids. Wendi became a certified nurse aid and decided to return to college where she enrolled in and completed her nursing prerequisites along with 72 credits of health care courses. She also completed courses in dementia care, advanced dementia care, trained with Teepa Snow on handling difficult behaviors in those with dementia and she is certified in hospice care. Wendi has also acquired experience and knowledge in caring for those with ALS.

Wendi has worked in long term care, memory care, assisted living, independent living and home care both as a caregiver and an administrative assistant, learning most aspects of home care operations.

She realized early on that not only was caring for others her passion but doing it while allowing them to keep their dignity intact was her specialty.

At HomeWell Senior Care, Wendi plans to continue learning, growing, caring and assisting the Homewell personal assistants, clients and office staff in any way possible.

Meet Kimberly Cooper, Human Resource Coordinator

Kimberly Cooper has been with Homewell Senior Care since February 2018 as our Human resource coordinator. Kimberly has personal experience in the industry which began when her grandmother was diagnosed with frontal lobe dementia. Kimberly became her grandmother’s live in care giver until she passed away. This led to Kimberly’s desire to obtain a career in the health care industry where she has remained for over 20 years. She has 10 years’ experience as a caregiver. Kimberly has also fulfilled the role as a business office coordinator and a memory care coordinator in an assisted living facility. Kimberly has experience in providing direct care to seniors, onboarding caregivers, training caregivers, supervising and staff scheduling. Kimberly has great compassion for seniors and an understanding of their needs. In her spare time, Kimberly enjoys bowling and spending time with her granddaughter.

Meet Amber Petel, B.S. LPTA., Business Development Director

Having come from a 20-year career in patient care, I have had a passion for helping people since I was a young girl. When I first entered healthcare as a therapy tech, I was young, full of passion and eager to do anything. I slowly realized that therapy was my calling and applied to the Physical Therapist Assistant program at Macomb Community College. I was blessed to make it in on my first attempt, after a short wait list. The next few years were full of blood, sweat, tears, joy and a deeper passion to help others. Clinical rotations put me in some of the top-notch hospitals in Detroit that allowed me to experience care of acuity that my classmates were not exposed to, I was at St. John Main and Henry Ford Main.

After graduating and for the next 16 years, I worked in all different settings as a Physical Therapist Assistant, acute care, in patient rehab, skilled nursing rehab, outpatient, home care and I also spent a few years with special needs children in schools. Although my love and passion to help continues, I felt after receiving my Bachelor of Science in Counseling/Psychology from Rochester College and a Bachelor of Science in Health Services Administration from University of Detroit Mercy, it was time to set aside my full time clinical hat for marketing and business development.

Having lost a brother to cancer and seeing that care that was required in his final months, I knew I wanted to help families that were in need of care for their loved ones. Helping families and patients to educate what services are available to assist them and their loved one at this time has become a passion for me.
